HLMDC Silver & Prize Nite Hunt – September 19, 2026

Get your headlamps ready! The Highland Lakes Metal Detecting Club is hosting a Silver & Prize Nite Hunt on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Haley-Nelson Park in Burnet, Texas.

This nighttime hunt will feature silver, prize tokens, planted targets, and a chance to win the Black Nickel pot.

There is a minimum of 8 paid participants for this hunt to continue. The signup sheet will be available at the meeting on Sep 5th. If you cannot make the meeting contact Kevin F. to sign up.

Location: Haley-Nelson Park, Burnet, Texas
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026
Sign-Up / Meeting: 8:30 PM–9:00 PM
Hunt Time: 9:00 PM–10:30 PM
Awards: 10:45 PM
Entry Fee: $25 per entry
Teams: Allowed
Minimum Participation: 8 paid entries are required for the hunt.

What Your $25 Entry Fee Covers

Each entry fee will be divided as follows:

  • $10 toward two prize drawings: a carbon shaft digging shovel and a carbon shaft sand shovel
  • $10 toward four silver dimes per entry
  • $5 toward the Black Nickel pot

Special Finds and Prizes

Keep a close eye on every target because several special finds will be planted throughout the hunt.

Painted Pennies: Painted pennies can be redeemed for one silver dime each.

Prize Tokens: Three special tokens will be planted. Each token will award one of the following prizes:

  • Carbon shaft digging shovel
  • Carbon shaft sand shovel
  • Donated coin collection

Black Nickel: One Black Nickel will also be planted. Whoever finds it will win the accumulated Black Nickel pot.

Plenty of Targets to Find

In addition to the silver and prize targets, the hunt area will include small jewelry, coins, trash coins, and other challenging targets to keep things interesting.

Targets may be buried up to 2 inches deep, so bringing a light digging tool is recommended.

What to Bring

Because this is a nighttime hunt, come prepared. We recommend bringing:

  • A metal detector
  • A headlamp
  • A chair
  • Bug spray
  • Plenty of hydration
  • A light digging tool
