Hello folks.

We had a great meeting yesterday.  We added three new members, and we had two new guests who are scoping us out to see if they want to join.  So overall, we had 13 in attendance.

The first thinwould like to address is that I have 43 names on this email list, list yet we only have 22 folks who are paid members.  I do not want to slight an,yone but as of April, 1st I will be restricting my email list to paid members.  For thyou who enjoy reading about our club activities but do not want to be fully paid mem, bers you can go to our website "highlandlakesmetaldetecting."om".  You will see Join in the section line.  That will have a dropdown with 2 opt: "View Free Content" and her "Become a Me."er".  You can hit the Join Now button under View Free Content.   Once you do ,this cane to see the posted club finds and newsletters.   The only difference is that muste to go to the website to see the posts as they will no longer be sent to you directly.   If you want to renew your paid membership you can mail a check payable to "Gary Goolsby" in the amount of $10 and mail it to him at 833 Lookout Mountain Road, Kingsland, TX 78639.  Dues can be paid in cash at the meetings.  DO NOT USE THE PAYPAL BUTTON in the website just yet as it is not fully active.  Any questions or problems you can email me or call me at 936-334-7902.

Agenda Item 1 was called.  A motion was made and seconded.  After discussion the club voted to approve this Agenda Item 1.  Therefore all future meetings will be held in the large meeting room of the Kingsland Library on the 1st Saturday of the month starting at 10:00 a.m.   We will have up to 2 hours use of the room.  Our next meeting will be on April 1st at 10:00 a.m., however, due to the April elections, we will be meeting in the small meeting room as the large meeting room is reserved for elections.  We hope that those who are concerned with driving at night and those who have trouble due to work hours will be able to make the Saturday morning meetings.   Members who attend are permitted to suggest a hunt site for that afternoon, however, that will be a fun hunt and not an official club hunt.   We will strive to include during our meetings an interesting speaker and a "show and tell" table.   Our designated speaker for the April meeting will be Tom Ashworth.   I will post his topic of discussion in my reminder email.

Agenda Item 2 was called.  This item was to create a Club Events Committee.  A motion was made and seconded.  Following discussion the club voted to table this item for consideration at a later date.  The members were concerned that it would be better to get the Saturday meetings in place and bring this item back up once we had a larger attendance.

Agenda Item 3 was called.  This item was to create a Club Hunt Committee with our Huntmaster, Hubert Jackson, as chairperson.  A motion was made and seconded.  Following discussion the club voted to table this item for consideration at a later date.   Our Huntmaster was not present for yesterday's meeting and the members wanted to bring this item back up at the next meeting that Hubert was present.

Agenda Item 4 was called.   This item was to establish a full time "show and tell" session within each meeting.  A motion was made and seconded.  After little discussion the club voted to approve this item.  Effective immediately members are encouraged to bring to the meetings any finds and/or detecting gear that you think are of interest.   Each meeting will have time devoted to the show and tell table.

Agenda Item 5 was called.  This item was regarding establishing our club as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  A motion was made and seconded.  After a good amount of discussion the club voted to reject this item.   A suggestion was made for the club to consider at the next meeting establishing the club as a DBA (Doing Business As).

Agenda Item 6 was called.  This item was regarding the location, date, and time for the March club hunt.  After discussion the club voted to have the March club hunt on March 11th starting at 9:00 a.m. at the "carnival grounds" in Burnet where the Bluebonnet Festival has been held.  I am attaching a map of the Bluebonnet Festival grounds.  Our hunt will be in the orange area.  This area is bordered by Jackson Street, Vanderveer Street, League Street, and the train tracks.  It is two city lots that are available for hunting.   Our club has hunted this area before.  Member Tom Ashworth told us that the groundskeeper told him that following this year's Bluebonnet Festival the City of Burnet intends to bulldoze the carnival lot to build a new city building there.🙁

Agenda Item 7 was called and 3 members displayed equipment and finds for show and tell.

We then closed the meeting.

If you have a topic that you think the club should consider please send me your agenda item topic by email.  I will take agenda item requests until March 27th after which I will post the agenda for the April meeting.
