Earl had presentation on how to find treasures with a metal detector and the proper research on who, when, where and what you are hunting for. Obtaining permissionand using proper tools for detecting including proper digging equipment, the proper use of pinpointers. Knowing the area and the history of the area is a must. Where to hunt in fields, or old homesteads. How to know special or “secret” hiding places both inside & out. Be aware of safety issues if entering old buildings or structures. Whatever it is you like to look for, be it coins in a park, relics in old places or treasures on the beach remember the hunt and the treasure is personnel to each individual and each situation. So hunt and enjoy.
Thank you to Dan for allowing our club hunt to be on his property, and to Tom for “seeding” the area with purchased coins for us all to possibly find. You must be a member of our club to participate in the hunt but you can still sign up for the hunt for $25 up until the day of the hunt but to join on the 3rd of May it will be $30. The hunt starts at 10:00. Pack & bring your own lunch and non-acholic beverages. There are some tables to sit and eat at. We would like to see as many members at the club hunt as possible, it will be a fun day but a reminder there will be no raffles or finds contest that day. Thanks also to Kevin F., he stepped up to help find places to hunt, he had a few questions for the group and is checking into a few ideas he has come up with. It was agreed that most members would be willing to drive a distance of 3 hours if needed for some of the possible hunt locations and some ideas for next year. We also want to say Thank You for the doughnuts brought to the meetings the last few times. The Brenham TAMDC hunt is getting closer, there are several vendors and of course the hunts on Sunday. Our club will man a table and we will be raffling a Simplex-Ultra Detector by Notka. You do not have to be present to win but remember those raffle tickets will not be included in our Club’s end of year raffle. Looking forward to seeing many at the show and some willing to help with the raffle and manning our table. We also want to thank Dan for coordinating the rodeo grounds hunt, it was enjoyed by several and there were some good finds. That is a possibly location for another hunt in the future.
We need some more items for our meeting raffles, thanks to all who donate and to all that can donate more. It does not have to be metal detecting items, but anything interesting, useful, reading material or even edible!
The “finds” contest was done, and winning finds rewarded. The raffles took place and the meeting was adjourned by motion from Susan and 2nd by Kevin.
