Treasurer Report: $1495.52 including $1025.27 raffle monies. Approved with motion made by Kevin and 2nd by Gary B. motion carried.
Thanks to all that have helped the Ashworth’s during their hardships from the flood. Hopefully they can keep moving forward with the progress that has begun on their place.
Tickets, and lots of raffle prizes and many other items were lost due to the flood. So if you are able please step up once again with raffle items to be donated. The tickets sold between now and through December will still go toward the big raffle drawing in December. All have agreed to start over w/ saved tickets.
The outing set up by Dan at the rodeo grounds went well. The night hunt set up by Kevin was lots of fun, but would have been more fun if more had participated. If you are not getting email notifications about upcoming events, get in touch with Gary Goolsby to make sure your email is on our list. Thank you to Kevin & Dan for their efforts in setting up outings & hunts.
It was nice to have Scott, Larry V., & Dennis G., from the different metal detecting affiliates come to our meeting providing us with info. and support and even raffle items for our club, especially during the aftermath of the flood.
The November meeting will be held in the small meeting room at the Kingsland Library. Be thinking of how you can step up to be a Board member, we have several openings coming up in December, president, vice president, and secretary. It is time for some new ideas and fresh outlooks for our club .
There was discussion on some possible upcoming club hunts again, to have fun with detecting and learn even more. Some suggestions were made to possible have hunts at a cooler time, maybe even another nite hunt. The TAMDC & Austin MDC had info. available on the Veterans Day Open Hunt, in Austin, Saturday, November 15th. Also the state show will be in April at the Mayburn Center in Temple. Lots of activity, fun and displays will be there.
Get with Scott Hagel or Larry Vickers if you are interested in buying a detector, they have all the latest info & specs. for various models. Scott also spoke on what to consider when you are in the market for a detector, like when, where and what you are planning to use it for and what kind of budget can you consider. Also you can check out Tom’s website ,”Prospectors Cache” for utubes on various machines and how to use them. Several hunts are coming up starting in October at various locations in Texas. TAMDC has the info.
James & Nyssa did a very informative and interesting demo on the “Sub Nado” underwater propelling device.
Remember if you find something as a result of the recent floods, that can be returned to someone involved in the tragedy, please try to do so and lets all keep those that were involved in the tragic events that recently took place in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you to all who already donated such interesting items to our raffle, helping our raffles to continue with all the fun as before.
Contests for best finds completed with some interesting items and raffles then took place. Meeting adjourned.
