Old Business: Due to another event going on at the same time, the Brenham show has changed dates to May 16th – 18th with the Children’s hunt being on Sunday. If you already paid, your fees will go toward the show just the same. Location has not changed, still at the Fireman’s Training Center.
The “Find of the Month” charts are set up and we will begin that activity. Keep hunting and bring your best finds, there will be a prize for the winner each month but we still need someone to step up and help with this project. Let Tom or Earl know if you can help. Karen has been working on club advertising but has not had a lot of response, she will keep looking into this. Thank you, Karen for offering to do this for our club. Our May 3rd meeting will take place at Dan Lynch’s home with our club hunt. Gary Goolsby is handling the registrations for the event, the entry forms are on our website. Pre-registration fee of $25.00 needs to be paid by April 26th , so we can get a head count for coins needed, or $30.00 to sign up at the event. The hunt will be for members only, if a visitor wants to hunt, they will have to join the club first and pay the hunt fee as well. Thanks to Kevin & Susan for bringing donuts to our meeting. They were delicious and disappeared quickly! Bringing refreshments is not required for our meetings but are always appreciated.
New Business: It takes a lot of effort to run the club. We could always use member’s help and input on things. Please if you are able to help in any way let Tom or Earl know.
Dan Lynch spoke on finding “treasures” in unusual places like roadside parks and even at the Coinstar machines in different locations. The rejected coins in these machines are often just left in the slot to whoever wants to claim them. Interesting, Thank you Dan for the info. Tom Ashworth spoke on the Technology and Terminology of various detectors. Speaking of sensitivity, frequencies, discrimination, notching, recovery speed and many more settings, even the best way to turn your machine on & off , ground balancing and many more modes and audio settings. A lot of info. was given and some of this info. will be on Tom’s website. This was such an interesting and informative program, thank you Tom for your insight on all these topics and sharing them with us.
W. C. Jameson will be the speaker at our March meeting. Introducing his newest book on Metal Detecting. Some books will be available for purchase and book signing. Looking forward to his visit and to seeing everyone then.
Raffles began, several nice prizes awarded.
